Hey There.
While Interlake Garden Center has served the community for 30+ yrs,
Rayme and Michelle Thomson are bringing their sense of business, pride of ownership and passion to elevate the customer experience into its new operation!
What's In a Name?
Everything! You will notice our name has changed to:
GEORGETOWN ACRES & INTERLAKE GARDEN CENTRE
Here's the story: Once upon a time, an Entrepreneur named George Thomson, impacted the Interlake communities through his business savvy and ability to bring vision to multiple ventures. One of his final proposals was to start a subdivision in Sandy Hook, called "Georgetown Acres". While this was not able to come to fruition before his passing in 2020, his son Rayme and daughter-in-law Michelle Thomson, carry his namesake forward by combining the use of that property with our current operation of Interlake Garden Center. We hope to develop that land into further use, and to bring production of pumpkins, vegetables and cut flowers, as well as a few more creative outlets up our sleeves, into YOUR hands and homes.

center noun
cen·â€‹ter ˈsen-tÉ™r ˈse-nÉ™r
1a: the point around which a circle or sphere is described broadly : a point that is related to a geometrical figure in such a way that for any point on the figure there is another point on the figure such that a straight line joining the two points is bisected by the original point called also center of symmetry.

Speaking of "symmetry", we changed the spelling of "center" to "centre". Samesies, but it flows with "Acre" in the first part of the name. That's it! We are still the central part of bringing both ours, and YOUR, love of gardening and beauty within the Interlake!

Rayme & Michelle Thomson
Rayme was born in Gimli, and returned after years raised in British Columbia and Alberta. He carried on his father's businesses and can be seen at most community events, camera in hand, capturing moments and people through his love of photographic journalism. He focuses on minor hockey and sports photography, as well as coupling with wife, Michelle, with a love of Aurora and Nature photography.

FUN FACT: Rayme is Metis, infused with both Scottish and Icelandic descent. He is actually the 5th Great Grandson of Robert Burns, famous Scottish poet (the guy that wrote "Auld Lang Syne" that you sing at New Years!)

Michelle comes from the shores of Newfoundland, and can't seem to stay away from any body of water. It's an East Coast thang. Raised in Edmonton, and first venturing to Manitoba solo to work on her Masters in 2012, she returned on the arm of Rayme in 2018 to help manage the family business, a successful motel and RV resort in Gimli. She is passionate about people, in a way that brings a hybrid of quality customer experience and professional service, with her flare for creativity and sense of humour.

FUN FACT: Michelle is terrified of car washes and fish flies. Yah, yah, they're both rather harmless, but it's just how it is!

Rayme and Michelle sold their previous business and weren't quite ready for retirement (although it was ALOT of fun for a few months). Eventhough fishing, exploring backroads and new places, and simply spending quality time together is their favorite, the pair has much more to offer the community by way of their entrepreneurial motivation. They are eager to make Georgetown Acres & Interlake Garden Centre a place people just want to come to. Their daughter, Emma, has begun her career as a Teacher in Alberta and also loves to come visit the amazing communities of the Interlake when able.

With family reaching literally coast to coast in Canada, the Thomsons have planted themselves right here in the Interlake and look forward to continuing to build honest relationships and business in our community.
